Giving hope. Trauma and cancer are heavy topics for a magazine to take on, but in this issue of UW Medicine magazine, we leavened our three primary stories with hope. To create imagery that would engage the sympathy of the reader, we focused on the emotional connections in each story: an accident and a family reunited in “The Thin Line;” a father’s illness and a daughter’s decision in “The Tree of Knowledge,” and a trauma-patient-turned-advocate in “The Mayor of Harborview.” I was responsible for art directing the imagery, as well as the cover to cover design.
